Without it, we can be blind to opportunity, numb to our desires, and afraid to be proactive about our dreams. Being intentional is a state of mind that you can choose to turn on or off. There is no right or wrong way to be intentional, but there are tools you can use to help you habitually set intentions. This can help you remember to keep your intentions top of mind during your daily life. For example, if you are seeking more belonging in your life, you might repeat to yourself: I want to belong. Building an intentional life takes practice, building habits, and awareness.
Change may feel daunting because you may feel like you can no longer predict what is going to happen. But with the tools to support you, you can take steps today to begin learning to live intentionally and within your purpose. Be Alert and Keep an Open Mind Intentional living is choosing to be alert to your desires by keeping an open mind. Tools for Living More Intentionally Set an intention first thing in the morning. Tune in to your heart space first thing in the morning, and then carry this energy with you throughout the day.
Try a tool like the Intention Planner to discover the emotions you wish to feel today. Focus on and write the intention that makes your whole body sing. On the left, you can journal a sentence or two about your intention for that day. You can plan one day or a whole week at one time. Set an intention right before bed. Take five minutes to reflect on your day.
What positive aspects of your day would you like to bring with you tomorrow? Set an intention while brushing your teeth. Every time you brush your teeth, repeat your intention in your brain over and over like a mantra. Set an intention during your lunch break.
While you are chewing your salad during lunch, put down your phone and pick up a pen. Take five minutes to journal about how your day is going so far. Such a person could be so caught up in the rat race of the system that the race itself is all that they live for. I would personally call that Hell. Fortunately, there are alternatives.

You can still choose Joy. You can still choose Peace. You can still choose Life. Personally, once I became free from the idea that I had to achieve in the system in order to be considered successful then I was free to begin living my life. And my belief in eternity is what created this freedom.
Instead of just learning because I was forced to - I began focusing on learning how to learn. I found teachers who would mentor me and stay with me over the years. I developed relationships with people from whom wisdom pours forth with every word and action. I push myself to do things that are difficult, that I might not necessarily want to do, but I know deep down that I should.
I have found Joy in this. I believe that Christ established the church universal so that we could learn how to live. Conversely, one of the great disappointments in my life is to see how the church universal has failed in that proclamation to the people of the world. It was in that gift, a gift so clearly and distinctly designated for me in my circumstance, that I was wooed and consequently fell in love with the Giver of it.
Brothers and Sisters, the Good News is that that gift is also available for you. I believe that you were meant for more than the rat race. The question is do you?
